As far back as I can remember (Since Junior B’s wedding frenzy that is) Bollywood wedding’s have always been an extravagant affair. But what’s that mean for the rest of us non-VIP but just as obsessed Bollywood Buffs??
You know what it means. Phones at full battery and chargers on deck! Time to scroll through endless Instagram pictures and snapchats of the week long events we were not invited to! I mean sure you probably have a friend of a friend’s, badi masi’s, beti’s classmate actually sneaking a peek of the wedding festivities while sitting in traffic but what about the fans “Saat Samundar Paar?”
While Mumbaikars are actually able to get a glimpse of the wedding festivities, live performances, and celebrities in their A-1 attire real time, we on the other side are fuming as the Tareek pe Tareek voice of Sunny Deol screams in our minds! We’d like to join the fun of Vrushka’s wedding too! Now let me just take a moment here to say how much I love that couple. Not that I know them or anything – but knowing of them counts I guess. Nothing beats Anushka walking down the aisle to Din Shagna Da sung by Jasleen Royal. WAIT WHAHHH? What do you mean you haven’t heard of it? WAIT RIGHT HERE!! Check it out below I added a link just for you…I’ll wait for you.
Best thing you’ve ever heard right!? Told ya so. Back to Vrushka’s wedding – so a beautiful destination wedding and that’s just the beginning. Throw in Virat singing, Sabyasachi outfits, and oh yeah the backdrop of Tuscany NBD am I right? So next thing you know it’s all done and over and they’re just back to their normal lives.
A few months pass by and we think we know everything that’s going on in B’Town. OR DO WE? It’s May 6th and we all look like a deer in headlights! All I can hear is my mom saying “Sonam na lagaan che” (All you non-Gujju’s that means it’s Sonam’s wedding!!) And I’m just like when did this occur? As if I was expecting an invite all along. Then we cut to all the outfits, celeb appearances, mystery man Mr. Ahuja, and the nine yards. It’s the wedding we all wish we were invited to! Side note: From wedding to the Cannes Film Festivities she’s rocked her attire all the way. Okay back to the convo though whilst all the wedding festivities are over us over here in on the other side, wish we could catch a glimpse of these events and live vicariously through social media and yes you all do it those cut and paste edited YouTube videos. I mean some of the snippets must be true am I right. AND THEN just days after we hear of Neha Dhupia’s wedding :O and the cycle continues all chargers and phones back on DECK once again!
All you b-town couples take a bow or should I say vow?! (slow claps or crickets chirping) Okay I admit that was bad but it was fitting! Well that’s what happens when we live away. Living away or being brought up in another country doesn’t mean you lose interest in certain elements though. Personally I’m probably the BIGGEST BOLLYWOOD FANATIC you’ve met and this is just a way for me to voice my perspective!
